Public Display Of Affection Essay - 1348 Words
Public displays of affection are physical acts used to demonstrate intimacy between people. The standard for acceptable displays of affection varies depending on the context. An act that is performed in private at ones own residence can be seen as disrespectful or promiscuous if performed in a public sphere. Therefore, public displays of affection are largely based on culture and the context in which the acts are performed. This paper will create a discussion about public displays of affection in the Western World and other countries, how public displays of affection come in many forms, and how public displays of affection are received/interpreted in different groups. In much of the Western World, it is very common to see people hugging,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦With some accounts of children only seeing their parents kiss once or twice in decades. This is similar to how some emblems have distinct meanings in separate cultures. In both India and Eastern Asia performing public displays of affection would be going against traditional values, however, as time goes on the younger generations are deviating from this view and an increase in acceptance of public displays of behavior is being observed. Of course, this is merely an observation, every relationship is different and the interactions among those involved are not defined by generalizations of culture, gender, or race. I refer to public displays of affection as a loose norm because they are largely contextual and dependent on the individuals interpretation of the act. As a result, public displays of affection come in various forms and hold multiple meanings. As males and females enter adolescence the importance of relationships outside of oneââ¬â¢s immediate family grows and value is appointed to others. During our adolescence, we are developing our self-image and our beliefs are being shaped by our interactions. Boys tend to have a more difficult time adjusting to public displays of affection due to boys being raised in an environment in which showing vulnerability and intimacy is looked down upon while girls are raised in a manner which supports the formation of bonds and sharing of emotions. Defiance and Conformity free essay sample
Defiance, conformity and social control are some subjects not everybody understands. Why do teens love to disobey authority figures? Why do kids conform in groups? Why do kids feel the need to partake in fads and whoââ¬â¢s truly responsible for molding our societyââ¬â¢s personality? Through psychological, anthropological and sociological examination, these perplexing questions can be answered. Learning to understand your teen is the best thing you can do, and in the end, itââ¬â¢s only going to leave your teenââ¬â¢s emotions, thoughts, and ideas amalgamated. Defiance is just a part of life for some people. Some people like to feel like they are standing up for something they believe in, that they are rebelling against the system ââ¬â why? The subject of Defiance can be explained through a psychological scrutiny. Observing teenagers makes you wonder how the innocence and purity of a young little boy could ever turn into the effrontery and boldness of a 16 year old. Itââ¬â¢s all a part of life, and comprehending that is difficult. Defiant children and teens think of themselves as equal to adults, (Defiant Children). This leads them to unrealistic expectations and inevitable conflict with parents and teachers. Defiance in media, at school and in other places ultimately leads to change in society. Defiance can be seen as negative to the common eye, but it actually often leads to things being done a different way, and people stretching boundaries. It is truly survival of the fittest being seen through teens thinking outside of the box and changing society. When a teen feels the need to rebel, he might stumble upon a way of doing something that no one else has done before, and it might work perfectly for him. When kids simply follow the leader, things cannot advance. If a teen is taught at an early age to be a sheep rather than a herder, then he will most likely not better his society as much as a smart, rebel will. Defiance can also have a negative effect on society ââ¬â it all depends on the intentions. If a teen has good intentions for what he does, he will follow his heart. When a teen just wants to do bad when rebelling with negativity, he is most likely doing what he is doing for attention from someone. Attention is a big factor in defiance. The teen wants to be seen and understood, and he wants to find a way to make people understand this. Defiance comes mostly out of arrogance, (Empowering Parents. ) A stubborn child will think that his way of doing things is just fine, and no help is required; this is a sign that the child feels like he is being controlled, or tied down. A teenââ¬â¢s confidence on the outside may seem enlightening, but inside the mind of a young adult, is a very confused person trying to find out what is best for him in life ââ¬â a person trying to put meaning to the esoteric nonsense that is existence. You canââ¬â¢t change this, but you can help them through it. Being calm, assertive and non-controlling is the best way to contain your childââ¬â¢s defiance. Discipline is obviously important, and if the act of wrong is serious enough, a punishment must be ensued. But listen to them, understand them, and reason with them, rather than degrade them with a childish punishment ââ¬â punish them as if they are an adult. The point is to help them contain their defiance and hormones into a safe medium like art, sports or schooling. But a teenââ¬â¢s young mind is dynamical, so donââ¬â¢t push anything onto them; let them be whoever they may want to be. Conformity is another aspect of puberty that is normal. Conformity is acting accordingly to certain accepted standards, (Conformity, Basic Concepts of Sociology Guide. ) It is easy to tell whether a teenââ¬â¢s feelings about something are genuine, or just regurgitated from a person they look up to. Conformity takes a sociology lesson or two to understand. Kids love to feel accepted. It is no question that the feeling of being an outcast is one of the worst feelings in the world as a teenager. Not just teenagers, but humans in general need to socially interact with friends and peers in order to not mentally drown in contained thoughts and emotions, and turn psychotic. A jailââ¬â¢s harshest punishment is to separate an inmate from the rest of the jail, and put them in a confined secluded area without any interaction with people this is no coincidence. Itââ¬â¢s natural to feel alone sometimes. Itââ¬â¢s natural to want to reach out and connect with people. When a teen findââ¬â¢s someone or something they can connect with, they find security in that. These standards are set by leaders, whether they are at school or on the television. What being ââ¬Å"coolâ⬠is changes throughout the decades, so one could say that change is the only thing that will always be cool. In order to think something is cool, an influence is required. Teens are influenced by the mediaââ¬â¢s figures such as musicians, actors, and athletes. The reason kids conform is because they see confidence and security in a personââ¬â¢s actions, and are manipulated by the thought of becoming confident and secure like them, (Teenage Anxieties. The bulk of human behavior is of a conforming nature as people accept and internalize the values of their culture or subculture. The reality is; teens strive for a stable identity. This is why they strive to conform. Most likely, it is just a phase, and once they figure out who they are, they will get out of it. Again, understanding this is key ââ¬â talking and listening to a teenager can be very helpful in determin ing what their real intentions are. The teenage mind is young, fragile and easily manipulated. Itââ¬â¢s not hard to see, and social control is EVERYWHERE. If you think deep enough, the reality in some things is appalling. A commercial about Hot Wheels may seem innocent but underneath the pseudo-normality is a harsh truth; these companies have people who receive pay and earn a living by studying kidââ¬â¢s patterns, and manipulating them to buy a product. Disgusting to say the least, but itââ¬â¢s normal, right? Social control is the governmentââ¬â¢s attempt to guide people down the road that they choose. Anthropology ties into this because you have to understand the evolution of man today. In order to guide people in the direction you want them to go, you must first understand how people have evolved in the past and why. Internal social control is the process of internalizing the norms of society and accepting them as valid External social control is an attempt to bring people who have stepped out of the lines, back into line, (The Government and Social Control. ) Teens are expected to walk down the path chosen for them, but to elicit your happiness in life, you must find whatever you love to do and do it. Who is to say what is normal and what is not? Thinking differently is not a crime, in fact, it is essential in the development of our species and itââ¬â¢s evolution. The main goal of socialization is to learn and understand how to communicate and act accordingly when around a person or group. Creativity can inspire new and more advanced ways of doing things. As humans, our improvements pile on top of each other ââ¬â we make enhancements on previous enhancements and evolve in basically everything that we do. When a newer, easier way of doing something has been discovered, it is natural as humans that we want to use it. Social control often sets a standard on what is proper. But deviating from the social norm can benefit you and others around you. It is truly beneficial for all of society, as a whole. Understanding and finding yourself is what is most important in life. Social control results in the conformity and deviancy paradox; when teens rebel to fit in. Trying to manipulate the path of society holds an intense irony in that it just confuses people; on the contrary, it does NOT provide structure. The key in understanding a teen going through puberty is talking to them and listening to them. Phases are phases, and they will pass. The most important thing to remember when trying to understand a kid going through puberty is that they are in their own rapidly changing aura, and itââ¬â¢s healthy to experience conformity, defiance and to be influenced by social control. In the end, it will only be knowledge, and knowledge brings you closer to understanding who you truly are. Teens seek a stable identity, and itââ¬â¢s up to their guardians to help them retrieve one. Sample Essay Explaining That I Smoked Marijuana On A Police Application
Sample Essay Explaining That I Smoked Marijuana On A Police ApplicationIf you have been arrested for a DUI then you will know that this can be a very expensive court case. In fact you may well think that you will be unable to afford the cost of it all so you are going to try and keep your options open by taking a sample essay explaining that I smoked marijuana on a police application. This sample essay is not written by me but has been given to me by a colleague who has worked with many defendants, some of whom were found guilty and others acquitted. You see in this case the applicant was told that he would be required to sign a police application which contained the details of his arrest. After reading the application it became clear that it contained a lot of objectionable material, which could put the applicant at risk of severe punishments. So the applicant had his solicitor draw up a written statement explaining that he had smoked marijuana. The following are extracts from the st atement which the applicant wrote himself and which you will find in full on this website:'I have smoked pot since January 2020, when I was arrested for my previous breath test. As a medical patient I have been prescribed marijuana as a means of dealing with a chronic lung condition, so I know that it is in no way a gateway drug. I am conscious that my refusal to submit to further testing could be fatal and I do not wish my child to suffer the same fate as me.'Now you can see why you should consider giving a sample essay explaining that I smoked marijuana on a police application, even if you have been found guilty. Some high profile media organisations have asked for it and as such you will find the sample on this website. You will need to be careful in what you use as a sample because this could be taken out of context and could result in an extremely unpleasant outcome. So consider this carefully before you submit it.Therequirements for a police application can be quite complex an d as such you may well want to consider writing a more detailed and professional essay explaining that I smoked marijuana on a police application and why. I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that if you choose to use this sample as part of your defence then it could not be used as evidence against you.By submitting your version of the police application you will be allowing the prosecution to put the applicant through all the most serious stages of the court case. I suggest that you also put together a more detailed cover letter as a supplement to your essay.Just bear in mind that while using the sample essay to explain why you smoked marijuana on a police application may prove to be a helpful strategy, if it is used to support your claim in court then it may not be as beneficial. You must therefore decide whether you want to stick to using the sample to support your own arguments or to avoid any possible side effects in court.

Abortion And Women Essays - Human Pregnancy, Midwifery, Abortion
Abortion And Women During the past century, abortion has joined race and war as one of the most debatable subjects of controversy in the United States. The issue of abortion causes discussions about human interactions where ethics, emotions and law come together. There are many reasons why women decide to have abortions. Some women have abortions because of health complications, some have marital problems, and some lack responsibility. Whatever the reasons a woman decides to have an abortion, it seems only justified that she should be able to make decisions in regards to her life and body. The decisions that she makes in regards to what she does with her body and the fetus will be beneficial to both the woman and the fetus because it will prevent many problems from occurring in the future. If a woman were to have an unwanted baby, she may neglect or even abuse the child causing the child to go into the care of the government. Bringing an unwanted child into the world is unfair to the innocent child and the woman. The government has no valid reason in bringing an unwanted life into the world. Bringing an unwanted child into the world is not helpful to the parents, the child and the government, because if the parents cannot take care of the child, eventually, the government will be responsible for the child. The right to have an abortion is personal and essential to a woman's life, because having a baby in one's life causes dramatic changes. Pregnancy and childbirth can prevent women from keeping and getting jobs. When women are pregnant many employers do not want to hire them because when the woman has a baby, the company or employer must still pay her for the time that she is out of work by law. Also, raising a baby and providing for all the needs that a child has is a lot of money, which can create an insufficient income for many women. Another factor that imposes on women when they have children is the amount of time they have for themselves and others beyond the baby. Women feel that it prevents them from providing services for others and time for themselves. Sometimes after a pregnancy and childbirth, many women have to give up their dreams on starting in school or end up dropping out because they do not have the time for it. They have to give up on something that will significantly influence her family and her future. Pregnancy has a great impact on the woman's future and her future relationship with her family. In many cases of unwanted pregnancies, the women are not married. These women inmost cases cannot go home and announce that they are pregnant and be proud of it. Their pregnancy would be am embarrassment and disgrace to the family. Some families would suggest to the pregnant woman about disowning her, throwing her out of the house, and cutting off family communications and wealth. Many of these women cannot deal with loosing their family and the new lifestyle that they have to face. So in order to prevent losing their family and leading a tough life, they look into the option of abortion. Women should have the choice of deciding what would be best for their future, whether or not they are ready to change their lifestyle and decide the relationship between themselves and their family. A woman is equal to a man. But during a pregnancy, when the woman does not have the choice to abort the fetus growing inside of her, she is not his equal. A man can simply withdraw from a relationship as soon as he finds out about a pregnancy. He has the choice of staying and supporting the pregnant woman, or the choice of leaving her and the development of a new life. He can simply say a sentence or pick up his bags and leave while a whole new life is growing inside of her, a life that she cannot get rid of unless she has professional help. Without the choice of abortion, a woman does not have the same choices that a man would have. With the right to have an abortion, women like men have the right to fully use the powers of their minds and bodies just like a man. A woman's body is hers and hers alone. No one has the right to make her do something that she does not want to do. The Supreme Court has stated that

Geography of the Tropic of Capricorn
Geography of the Tropic of Capricorn The Tropic of Capricorn is an imaginary line of latitude going around the Earth at approximately 23.5à ° south of the equator. It is the southernmost point on Earth where the suns rays can be directly overhead at local noon. It is also one of the five major circles of latitude dividing the Earth (the others are the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere, the equator, the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle). Geographyà of the Tropic of Capricorn The Tropic of Capricorn is significant to understanding the Earths geography because it marks the southern boundary of tropics. This is the region that extends from the equator south to the Tropic of Capricorn and north to the Tropic of Cancer. Unlike the Tropic of Cancer, which passes through many areas of land in the northern hemisphere, the Tropic of Capricorn passes mainly through water because there is less land for it to cross in the southern hemisphere. However, it does cross through or is near places like Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Madagascar, and Australia. Naming of the Tropic of Capricorn Around 2,000 years ago, the sun crossed into the constellation of Capricorn at the winter solstice around December 21. This resulted in this line of latitude being named the Tropic of Capricorn. The name Capricorn itself comes from the Latin word caper, meaning goat and was the name given to the constellation. This was then later transferred to the Tropic of Capricorn. It should be noted, however, that because it was named over 2,000 years ago, the specific location of the Tropic of Capricorn today is no longer in the constellation Capricorn. Instead, it is located in the constellation Sagittarius. Significance of the Tropic of Capricorn In addition to being used to aid in dividing the Earth into different parts and marking the southern boundary of the tropics, the Tropic of Capricorn, like the Tropic of Cancer is also significant to the Earths amount of solar insolation and the creation of seasons. Solar insolation is the amount of Earths direct exposure to the suns rays from incoming solar radiation. It varies over the Earths surface based on the amount of direct sunlight hitting the surface and it is mostly when it is directly overhead at the subsolar point which migrates annually between the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer based on the Earths axial tilt. When the subsolar point is at the Tropic of Capricorn, it is during the December or winter solstice and is when the southern hemisphere receives the most solar insolation. Thus, it is also when the southern hemispheres summer begins. Furthermore, this is also when the areas at latitudes higher than the Antarctic Circle receive 24 hours of daylight because there is more solar radiation to be deflected south due to the Earths axial tilt.
